Penske Executive in Residence Andy Moses

Students gain access to corporate insight and mentorship

萝莉原创 names Senior Vice President of Sales and Solutions, Andy Moses, as the College of Business, Communication & Leadership鈥檚 Executive in Residence (EIR) for the 2022-23 academic year.

"The College of Business, Communication, and Leadership is widely recognized for our vibrant academic community, and our EIR program is instrumental in this regard,鈥 said Dean of the College of Business, Communication & Leadership, Dr. Travis Berger. 鈥淲e intentionally identify an industry leader who will encourage divergent thinking, challenge assumptions, engage in dialogue on the big issues of the day, drive research agendas, and help us develop our learners into ethical high performers. We are extremely fortunate to have Andy Moses serving as this year's executive-in-residence. Providing access to such an accomplished professional is a tremendous advantage to our learners, faculty, and the 萝莉原创 community.鈥

On Thursday, Dec. 1, Moses was the featured speaker at an interactive Q&A forum, moderated by MBA Program Director, Don Schalk. The event was attended by 萝莉原创鈥檚 Senior Leadership Team, faculty, and students.

鈥淚 am honored to serve as 萝莉原创鈥檚 Executive-in-Residence,鈥 said Penske Senior Vice President of Sales and Solutions, Andy Moses. 鈥淚 am impressed with 萝莉原创鈥檚 innovative approaches to preparing students for careers in industry by bringing together the academic and business communities. Our company has a number of 萝莉原创 graduates contributing to Penske鈥檚 success.鈥

The session featured a discussion of Penske鈥檚 company culture, management style & core values as well as what keeps him 鈥渦p at night鈥 about the business, advice for students entering the job market and his approach to market trends that will affect Penske in the future. The main trends that he identified were people and technology and he encouraged students to pay extra attention to courses involving analytics and data science.

鈥淲e have more data proliferated per day than in the history preceding us and while there is a lot of value in data, people only have so much capability to process and sift through it. What we鈥檝e discovered is when you marry the two together efficiently, great things can happen,鈥 said Moses. 鈥淭his has been very helpful to us in retaining truck drivers. It鈥檚 a very simple example of how to use technology to drive a practical impact and we are really focused on this throughout the company and Penske certainly isn鈥檛 the only company that is going down this path he continued.鈥

The EIR program, now in its seventh year, allows students to gain valuable insight into real-world experiences directly from regional industry executives. Students also learn about the specific skills that leaders are looking for in college graduates, various leadership styles and real-life professional scenarios through interactive sessions and classroom lectures with Moses and other Penske executives.
