Local and global service efforts lead to national recognition for 萝莉原创 grad student
萝莉原创 grad student Kirsy Rosario 鈥20 has earned national recognition for her local and global service endeavors by being named a 2021 by Campus Compact. She will join 212 students from 39 states, Washington, D.C., and Mexico to form the 2021 cohort.
鈥淜irsy鈥檚 willingness and desire to constantly improve service efforts and her dedication to serving local and global communities do not go unnoticed,鈥 said 萝莉原创 President John R. Loyack. 鈥淪he is committed to 萝莉原创鈥檚 mission of serving the underserved in an impactful and meaningful way.鈥
Rosario, a former Reading Collegiate Scholar who graduated from 萝莉原创 in 2020 with a BA in accounting, returned to 萝莉原创 for the 2020-21 year as a graduate assistant in The Holleran Center for Community Engagement. In the role, Rosario has been the driving force behind a new volunteer management system that has proven crucial for connecting student volunteers to community projects. In addition, she has traveled to the Dominican Republic through 萝莉原创鈥檚 Alternative Breaks program and to Mexico, where she served their communities through church renovations, community cleanups and other service activities.
Rosario is pursuing an MBA at 萝莉原创 and is the ninth student in university history to be named a Newman Civic Fellow.
鈥淢y time at 萝莉原创 has shown me the importance of serving and providing support to others,鈥 said Rosario. 鈥淎fter working with the Reading Collegiate Scholars Program, I saw the impact one could have on others, and it inspired me to continue to make an impact. Being able to serve locally and globally has allowed me to have a different perspective on others.鈥
The is a year-long program for students from Campus Compact member institutions. The students selected for the fellowship are leaders on their campuses who demonstrate a commitment to finding solutions for challenges facing communities locally, nationally and internationally.
